I just check out the location for the NLIC on mnpig.com and all I can say is wow good job picking that one Chris. Do you know anything on pricing yet? Also is it looking like enough teams will show to this to make it count for points? Just wondering so we can figure out if we need to plan on going to MICT or not.
I believe there are currently 7 registerred, and UWRF is apparently pulling a team together. You can check the latest registration at www.register.college-paintball.com.
We will be using one indoor airball field. The field can support 7-man, so there should be plenty of room. The floor is dirt coverred by 6-8 inches of wood shavings (it's basically a very large hamster cage ), which is a little slow to move in but the softest surface I've ever played on.
Field paint only. $65/case Diablo Blaze. If people want to pre-oder it, we can probably have some Inferno on hand at a higher price.
The field's temporary website is www.teamdistortion.org. Address should be there. Note that when I mapquested the address this weekend it came up off about a quarter mile or so, sticking me in a subdivision on 141st LANE when I really wanted 141st AVE. (The field was about a quarter mile west of where Mapquest said it was.)
I'll try and put up some maps in the next couple days.
Alright, being the bright boy that I am, I mucked up the paint pricing. Blaze is $75. You can get a lower grade paint for $65, which while it gets the job done for practice etc., I wouldn't recommend for tournaments. I apologize for the mixup.
Is there anybody else thinking about going to this I don't think we'll have 2 teams for this weekend because of spring break and the fact that the paint cost went up. We have one team but 2 probably isn't going to happen.
We're running into the same trouble. It's spring break for us right now and a lot of players won't be back for the tourney. We do have 2 teams that should/will be able to attend. How many teams do we need for this tourney to count for ranking points?
From talking to the field, other teams in the area have been calling and asking about going, although I'm not sure how many. Keep me posted on the number of teams you're bringing.
Other college teams in the area? Any ready to make a committment to playing? How many teams minimum are needed for the tournament to be held? And since there aren't any cash/gear prizes, will the entry fee be reduced if we only play a smaller number of games? If Iowa State drops their 2nd team that leaves 4 teams (2 ours), and $100 is a lot for 3 games. I'll keep checking this board for updates on teams. If I can help in recruiting those other teams in any way let me know. -Aaron
We need 4 schools and 6 teams for this tournament to happen. I've got enough for one team but 2 isn't going to happen it doens't look like. I'll know for sure wendsday night though.
Any way we can find out about those additional teams on/before tomorrow (Thursday) evening? Our club is holding a tournament meeting for all the members still around during spring break week and I would like to be able to tell them one way or another about this weekend.
Looks like we'll have enough to go around with Wisconsin adding to the ante. So what's the word Legacy, will Iowa have 2 teams? Chris, any word on the others?
We are definite on 2 MSU, 1 ISU, 1 UWRF and 1 Dunwoody. That's 5. There are a couple not-definites so I think we'll make 6-8 by the weekend.
We'll go ahead with the event. Worst case scenario we'll do double (or triple, if people want) round robin with the 5 teams and have trophies and do some good PR and get some nice indoor balling in. It's looking like we're going to have 10+ refs on the field, and it really is a prime facility. The only thing we won't have with 5 teams is ranking points, but I don't think anyone is that hard up for those (I know UWRF and Dunwoody arn't, ISU already has 200, so if you MSU guys are good...)
