Well I spoke with some SPSU guys. Looks like their team is all but disbanded at this point so we shouldn't expect them to sign up. Anyone hear from anyone else? So far we have 3 teams and 2 schools signed up.
Embry-Riddle should be attending. However I noticed that you said the deadline for APPA was the 17th, and our Captain was registering us Yesterday, the 18th. I think we were already registered for APPA though, and he was just registering us for the actual tournament. Hopefully it all worked out. If so, we will be sending at least 1 team, possibly 2.
Yeah I see you guys registered on APPA. I'd call Tom at Regulators just to make sure but I wouldn't worry about it too much- I sent him our paypal money on Friday and he still hasn't accepted it so he must not be in any hurry.
Mike K, what's up with your captain on Clemson? You guys aren't on APPA yet.
What is the rule? You have to have five schools or six teams for it to count? The only reason I ask is because some of our guys have events that they are giving up to come to this tournament. It may not be worth the drive and the money if only a couple other teams are there. DGS was kinda similar, but much closer nonetheless. Either way, I wish people would register ON TIME if they are going to attened. If they don't register on time they should not be allowed to go, cause this is ridiculous. We still want to play, so please let us know who's coming before we committ our money.
>way, I wish people would register ON TIME if they are going to attened.
I totally agree, Charlie. The teams in our region have been flaky as hell this year and I can't even begin to explain why. We all need to get back in gear, Tech included.
Everyone needs to attend this one because our rankings are already hurting on the national level because of the DGS catastrophe. So we really need UGA to plan on attending.
We are definitely planning on attending. Don't get me wrong. I was just saying that come Thursday if there are still only four teams signed up we might look at other options. I want to play other schools more than anyone, but its not worth paying $50 bucks for a hotel and driving three hours to scrimmage with Tech and one other school. I'd rather drive to Ultimate or Fat city and play you guys. Plus there is a huge practiced scheduled at DGS this weekend with several teams (at least four) which is not only closer for us, but also much cheaper since we don't have to pay for a hotel, food, etc. All I'm saying is that I hope this weekend doesn't turn out to be just another "practice" like DGS. Teams in the SACC need to get on the ball. People are not registering on time, not notifying people of attendance, and as Mike said, they are just being flaky. The dates for the tournaments are announced way in advance so registration should not be a problem at all. The online registration takes all of thirty seconds to submit your team name and players. No objections to the dates of the tournaments were voiced either so I don't see why all the teams aren't signed up. Please post here or sign up on the APPA immediately if your team is coming so we can make this event a good one. Sorry for the rant but thats just how I feel.
I agree with ya charlie....i dont feel like more or less giving up my friday night and sat only to find out i drove a good hour and a half to not have a tournament....but with only 4 teams registered right now and only 4 more days until the event i begin to wonder?
Well first off the reason Clemson is not registered on the APPA is because Clemson will not be attending the this event. I personally will be there as I am putting the event on and am the rep for the region but Clemson will not be participating.
Second the rule is 6 teams minimum from 4 schools minimum right now there are 4 teams and 3 schools.
I am going to to wait through tomorrow to see if I can reach any other schools before I cancel the event.
Sorry for the post delays I have been away since last Thursday
I think a rule should be enacted from now on that states all teams must be registered at least one week in advance. That way if there aren't enough teams, the event can be cancelled and other plans can be made. If teams sign up and then back out, they should loose points on their national ranking. I know that some teams don't care as much about their ranking but at least it serves as some form of punishment.
What's happened to our reegion...Nothing its always been too small...we have been lucky with people being able to send multiple teams at times and with schools coming from other regions. That's why we in the south east have registration deadlines at all. Because we never know if we will have enough teams. other regions don't have big of a problem.
As far as what's going on with Clemson....that is't really public board topic you can get with me late and I will fill you in if you want.
If more teams are not signed up by Wednesday UGA is not coming. Brimstone smoke, miami effect, trauma, and precision are coming to DGS to practice this weekend and we would benefit a lot more by playing them. It is also cheaper for us. Hopefully the next event will go over much better, cause I really want to play a college tournament.
By the way, its never too early to sign up for the next tournament, we are already registered for it.
I'm definitely up for this tournament, I just don't know what teams would be able to come. Clemson, Tech, E.R., and UGA have been the backbone of this league and with Clemson (which normally sends two teams) sitting this one out, I just wonder if we'll be able to find two more teams. I'll gladly give him another day if he thinks he can find the teams, but I just didn't want to have to change plans or pay cancellations fees. If more teams don't sign up why don't you guys come up to DGS Saturday and have a good practice?
